The Buriti palm tree (Mauritia Flexuosa) – flourishes in tropical climates, it is mostly commonly seen in the Amazon Rainforest in South America

The Buriti palm tree looks like most other palm trees, with its defining feature being the pale yellow flowers that come out in the rainy season lasting from December to April

The husk of the fruit is textured, dark brown and shiny – almost like a combination of a chestnut and a pinecone

The fruit inside is a vibrant yellow with a texture similar to a mango. There is also an edible nut inside, which is the seed of the plant. The fruit has been a food source for a long time and is still used to flavour a wide range of foods

People of the Amazon adore the Buriti fruit which grows off the tree they call ‘the tree of life’. They love it because of its diverse benefits to the body

Buriti oil is rich in nutrients – providing your skin with the minerals it needs

Buriti oil is rich in vitamin C which is a powerful antioxidant – which can help protect the skin and improve any premature ageing and promotes healthier looking skin from the inside out

Buriti oil is rich in vitamin E which locks in moisture and keeps your skin looking healthy and protected – Beta-carotene goes hand in hand with the vitamin E benefits as it also helps to lock out any external stressors

Fatty acids are another benefit extracted from the oil – they help with wrinkle prevention by firming the skin – therefore reducing the appearance of wrinkles, as well as helping with ageing factors. Fatty acids are a natural moisturiser that helps to keep your skin looking hydrated
